11 of us meet on the 12th September, and sit round makeshift tables in the main room of the pumphouse. I ask people to sum up what they think the project is dealing with or might deal with. There are a range of answers:
The myths of water
Controlling the power of water
Representing the water source
The tropical sea that the chalk aquifer once was
The contradiction between the naturalness of water and the technology and chemicals that are used to treat it now
Using the corridors
The serpent
Water and playing
The past and the science fiction future
This becomes a sort of audit of our work so far, so we go on to list potential partners
The fire service
Allenbourne schools - singing and filming perhaps
Elders
Anglers
The Waterbailiff
Dream boats (who run boat trips)
A local drama group who might take on a set piece scene
There's even An idea that there might be van dispensing fish suppers outside
And we know there will be about 15 in the choir
Between 6 and 8 in dance group
My next question is what individuals present want to do, asking them what is in their comfort zone and to think of one thing that is outside their normal role or comfort zone
Clair - talking to Holt youth club, interviewing, costume drawing, performance (in disguise), marketing (and also mentions her daughter who does fabric manipulation).
Marion - performing and interviewing (Comfort Zone), writing (out of CZ)
Gill - writing, possibly lyrics, facilitating workshops (all in cz). Sound scaping and projections/film (not CZ)
Tuppy - going up in the air (CZ !)
Ian - singing
Barbara - performance, acting and dancing (CZ). Sound or percussions (not CZ)
Dan - filming interviews, capturing images, light and sound (maybe leading a team). Performance.
Tony - writing/performing. Lighting (not CZ) but with somebody
Rob - Sound recording and reproducing. Projecting slides and possibly Super 8 film. Creating a live element, micing space and live manipulation of sound
Ken - Reading and speaking. Taking a small part.
Paul - performing. Assistant producing (not CZ)
So what gaps do we have ?
Pyrotechnics
Crewing
Makers.
